1. Do any of the government body or others object to the use of Power Fence™?

It is our firm belief that our Power Fence™ does not violate any law or statute under the Indian Penal Code or the Indian Electricity Rules 1956. Since there is no law which governs the electric fence systems, Ibex has taken an active role in implementing the safety standards with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the draft standards now been printed IS: 302-2-76 - 1999 titled; Safety of household and similar electrical appliances.

2. What are the permissions that are required for erecting the Power Fence™?

No prior permission from any regulatory body is required for erecting the Ibex Gallagher Power Fence™ system.

3. Can the police or the municipal authorities object to Power Fencing™?

Our experience shows that the local police will only be too happy that an effective system has been installed.

4. Can an intruder sue the owner and claim damages if he is injured as a consequence of the Power Fence™ and what are the legal aspects if one dies on a Power Fence™?

Direct contact with the fence and receiving a shock will never be fatal. However, if as an indirect result of this contact and impact against a hard object, a person gets injured or even killed, there cannot be any legal liability on the part of the fence owner.

A well designed and installed Ibex Gallagher Security Power Fence™ adhering to the minimum Ibex Gallagher code of practice is absolutely safe and nobody gets injured or dies as a consequence of contact with the Power Fence™. Several million electric fences (built to international safety standards) have been installed all over the world and Gallagher and Ibex Power Fence™ systems have impeccable safety record and there is no case of death reported since 1938.

Note: These answers are based on our experience and the minimum code of practice in design, manufacture and installation (which exceeds the requirements of International Electrotechnical Committee for safety requirements of electric security fences) of Ibex Gallagher Security Power Fence™ Systems. This cannot be generalized for all kinds of electric fences.
